I have a H.D. digital/Analog tach, I can't see the hour meter only V IN ER. Can anyone tell what this error is and what does it mean. I ca speculate it has something to do with the Vin number.

I'm having the same problem on my 2013 FXDB. I don't think it has anything to do with your VIN, but more likely Voltage. Mine's going to spend some quality time with the dealer this week to figure it out. I'll update the thread below once they figure it out.

My 12 SB has done this since new, first only after a long ride with a short shutdown. I came home last month from a det to NV, to a change in weather to the cooler, and it started doing it consistently. Got a HD battery charger from a buddy of mine, and havent had any issues in the 2 weeks since I put it on. May want to double check the tightness of your battery terminals too.
P.S.
I still have the stock gauge on mine so its not an issue with the gauge. I believe its a matter of the battery doesnt have enough juice to crank the bike, if i hit the starter before the fuel pump stopped it wouldnt do it.
