Default Battery Cover Removal 2012 Fat Bob

I am sorry but still new to the bike scene. I am having a bit of difficulty getting the battery cover off my fat bob in order to put a trickle charger on. Can someone walk me though the steps or point me in the right direction.

Take your seat off. It's the screw at the rear of the seat. Pull it backwards and up and it will pop right up. Your battery box cover should be held on by a philips head screw. Remove that and the cover should come off. It's easy takes less than 2 mins.

Correct. The Phillips screw is directly below the battery box lid. Once you remove the screw, pull out and up on the cover. You'll notice the upper edge of the box has a couple of oblong holes that nest over a couple of raised areas.

As far as I know, all the newer bikes came with Tender plugs? My 08 did, and my '10 did. It's fit below the battery. I picked up another Tender off Amazon for $20.... Just a thought.

do yourself a favor and get a pigtail on there if you dont already have one so you dont have to take the cover off to charge it next time. the secondary benefit there are adapters for jumping the bike or a 12v aux plug for charging your phone.

they're pretty cheap as long as you dont buy one that says harley on it.

The dealer is supposed to install the pigtail, but they don't always do it.

Depends on the dealer. Had to put one on myself.

the seat is easy to take off but its not necessary when removing the battery cover. Remove the screw in the bottom and tip it out a little ways and then push the cover up. You can tilt the seat about 1/4" to get enough clearance. Worked for me on my sundowner, mustang and stock seat
