I'm in the market for a new helmet and am looking to move from a 1/2 cut to a 3/4 cut to help with wind noise. i'm currently looking at the biltwell, daytona and the bell custom. i need a DOT approved and am looking for a low riding, not bulky helmet. Still trying to decide if i want the flat black or go all out and get one of the flake paint jobs. it seams like know one carries all the brands so i can't go try them all on at the time. and the dealers are so spread out. the closest biltwell dealer is about an hour from me. looking for reviews from anyone that has one of the mentioned above, or any additional 3/4 helmet that has the low"cool" look but still DOT approved
I finally got a 3/4 helmet a couple weeks ago...Bell Custom 500 Matte Black with the Retro 3 face shields (one clear, one smoke). Obviously not as low profile as my HCI 100 1/2 shell but will definitely do the trick for those cold morning rides.
I agree. Here's a link to buy one for $40. Props to one of the members (can't remember who) for finding this a few weeks ago, and the price is $10 less than it was then. One of the reasons for these blowout prices is that Bell is coming out with a new version of the 500, but this is a great deal.
It's probably not the absolutely lowest profile, but I'm too old to really give a crap what it looks like to the rest of the world. I find it extremely comfy. http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...tom-500-helmet

theres really no helmet that will cut out all wind noise. the biggest benefit is keeping the wind from blowing right into your ear. and any 3/4 that fits well will do that.
the best solution for wind noise is earplugs or a big fairing/windshield to keep the wind from hitting your head.
