Winshield, saddlebags and an old school look. Just some of the pluses. Two of my friends have the Heritage softails and we switch back and forth sometimes. i can tell you as far as comfort goes, they are just as nice a ride as my SG, just no radio. My son has a Bob and the heritage is definitely an upgrade!!! (IMHO) Good luck on your choice!!
I would disagree that a Heritage or any other Softailis just for looking at? It is a very comfortable bike and I have riddin more then 100 miles at a time without any discomfort. I also don't considerone an upgrade from any Dyna or vice versa. I have riddin an 05 dyna but not 06 or newer. I know that they beefed up the frame and forks in 06 so I am sure the comfort and handling are even more outstanding. If you ride agressive stick with your street bob and throw bags on it when you need them.I came from a sporty that I used to love throwing into turns, can't do that with floor boards! Well you can if you like to leave a trail of sparks!
I have spent a lot of time on an 03 Heritage........and while it is also a very nice bike I do not consider it an upgrade. It is just another choice is all.
Does not handle as good as my lowrider, does not run as good with the B engine. If I were going to consistently make 500+ mile trips...as in more than a few times a month, then I would concede that the cushier/softer ride of the Heritage may carry some weight.
The Lowrider or any Dyna FTM can be configured to tour jsut as good as anything HD originally markets that way.
Bigger bikes someone said????? Compare dry weight, OAL, engine [same except for the B part] width, and any other stock statistic on a Dyna to any softtail and see what you get...............basically not two damned cents worth of difference.
Wanna compare Dynas and softtails to the touring bikes....RK, Ultras, Glides......then you can talk about noticeable differences.
People that talk that bigger bike $hit are morons and need to get the F over themselves.
Take your Dyna and upgrade the front end. I spent about 2000 upgrading my 02 lowrider and as you can see.....The ride is smooth and I still have the handling of any dyna!
All great feedback , from the small amount of time spent on a heritage i would not have considered the clearance in tight corners. I spend more time local than on the road so the handling of the dyna is great . Not trying to say that one bike is superior to another just great in different ways . With some of these real world facts it helps with my choice. I have been riding dynas a long time and dont really want to change if there wont be a real advantage to it.From what i am reading here it seems like the dyna the way i have it set up is just as trip worthy as a heritage .
I know it's completely different animal but have you considered a Electra Glide standard? That would be a true upgrade and the standard is still a smokin deal at only a couple G more than a Bob.
