Default Brake Lines and newbie

Newbie here but I don't have a photo of my 2004 FXDL to share yet. Two months ago I traded in my 2005 Triumph Tiger 955i for the FXDL with 15K miles and almost have it dialed in to my liking. Quite a drastically different ride from the Tiger! I love the HD engine but also miss the howl of the triple at full throttle. But, I'm getting too old to pick up the Tiger when off roading and needed to slow down. Yes, I'm dumb enough to take a 500lb 100hp bike off road and ride it fast. Dropped it three times off road in six years but only needed surgery once. The FXDL is also much plusher than the 2005 XL1200R I traded for the Tiger six years ago.

On the new bike, I needed to replace broken front brake switch when I got it home, replaced mini sissy bar with short sissy bar and added a nice "old school" bar and shield Felt medallion, added luggage rack with toolbag underneath, replaced stock shocks with 13" 440's (didn't like scraping pegs and muffler clamps every wheres), added HD quick detach Windshield, awaiting Progressive fork springs, and awaiting Mustang FastBack seat. Put about a thousand miles on it so far which isn't bad for this time of year.

Anyone know the length of stock lines for 2004 FXDL? I'm thinking it's time to replace lines and want to get braided ones.

I don't know stock length, but Magnum Shielding sells a do-it-yourself brake line kit and/or components to fab brake lines with. I used their parts on a 1990 Softail after adding 14" apes with 2" risers. Making the front brake line was super easy, and it fit perfectly. I bought 6' of stainless braided line and a pair of fittings for around $47 (through a secondary online dealer). Magnum Shielding also makes other braided cables once you know what lengths you need. Cheaper to buy through dealers that sell than going straight to the parent company.

Thanks for the info. I did see Magnum lines on Amazon and guess I'll just measure what I have and order something close or look further for do-it-yourself kit.

Just found this on ebay while looking for a brake line for a custom build I'm working on. Apparently this co will make what you need for $22 + $13 shipping (from Canada). they have good feedback numbers.

Awesome! Appears easy to order different angle fittings and even colored lines. Now to see if I can stand the garage temperature to measure. Thanks.
