when switching to ape hangers ?? about brake lines
Those who have switched to some type of ape hanger set up on your sportsters were the front brake lines similar to stockers (as in mainly hard lines) or what type of configuration was the new one?
Also does anyone know what the length of the stock brake line and cables (clutch and throttle) of a 1200C.
I'm at work (16 miles from the bike) and trying to research the cost of switching to a 16" z-bar on a 2" riser.
Any help would be much appreciated.
I measured on mine because I'm about to order some 12in apes. The line I am getting is a Russell modular deal, so 2 banjo fittings and a line. I'm going to measure again but I think either the 47in or the 50in line will work for me. It is all braided hose with no hard lines.
Use a string or something and mock them up...add enough for a little slack and measure...the closest measurement (+4, +6, etc.) is what you'll need. Stock measurement can obviously be taken from....well....the stock cables, lol. For the brake line you just gotta use the closest measurement.
For 18" I'll say this...you're gonna need some long *** cables!
Thanks for the replies. Yeah I figured they would end up being some long cables and lines. I really like the feel of the 16" apes but love to look of zbars.
I was just hoping the brake line would be similar to the stock piece in configuration. Not a big fan of having a huge hose running from the front master to the caliper. I like the cleaner look of having a 3/16" hard line with minimal amounts of bulky hose.
