To bring the screen top backwards....Remove the brackets and extend the cuts further in frame towards the back. Then grind the front down until it clears the mounting brackets when installed. ie cut a further 1/4 " into the slot and grind a 1/4" off the front. You may also find that half the issue is wind coming up from underneath the forks and this is where most of the buffeting comes from. The lower fork deflector is from earlier evo FLH models. They stopped fitting them when they went to twin cam motors. HD screens are only good for cutting up and using for frisbees. I don't meet many who are happy with them.
Beagle,
Ahah, Good idea. From what I can see I would have to grind nearly an inch. May be easier that sawing and trying to connect the cuts to remove the middle.
Are the brackets SS or chrome covered regular steel.?
Thanks,
Roger
Toku, If you find out if they sell seperate brackets I would appreciate you posting it.
Also what type of material is the brackets so I can get the appropriate saw blade.
Also , what do you think of your wind damper?
If you cut the bracket please post how you designed the cut.
Thanks,
Roger
Will do! But I don't have a "Wind Dampener" It was another member. I believe that the brackets are Stainless
Do you ride with a Full Face helmet? I don't really notice it when I don't wear a helmet and ride. But with my FF helmet it feels like thumping on my head. So much that my vision is compromised when doing speeds over 60 mph.
Update: Now that I've been riding with this configuration for a while I really like the set up! The only problem is that I'd like the windshield a bit more integrated with the entire bike. (I hate the look of that extension on the bracket)
So I'm going to go for it, and cut the bracket to get rid of the bottom spacer yet maintain the angle of the windshield.
It should look like it came from the factory that way! It'll bring the windshield closer to the forks. I'll post pictures when I have a chance to do it.
The good thing is the HD windshield is a keeper now! Before I was hating that thing with a passion, I wanted to run it over with my truck and send it back to Harley.
Rifle sells replacement brackets for Fat Bobs which tilt the screen back 10 degrees to align with the forks. I haven't looked to see if they have similar parts for other bikes.
Yek, I called Rifle and they have a bracket made to angle the windshield back. Supposed to fit touring windshield. I ordered it and have not received yet. Will post when installed .
Thanks for the repy.

Beagle, got a wind deflector from an old road king on Ebay. Used the bolt on the brake spitter to hold. Had to drill and then file a slot . Fits very well, but so far after two rides I find it of no help.
Waiting for my Rifle brackets. If that doesn't work, will modify the oem brackets.
Thanks for the reply to my thread.

Toku, waiting for Rifle brackets. Should arrive this week. Will post result.
