I am going to go take a peek at both bikes in person to see which one calls my name the most. I do like the chrome look as that is how my 72 is, but I was thinking the SB with the black engine as it wouldn't look as dirty all the time as this bike will be street parked in NYC everyday. Then like I said the SGC just almost seems to make more sense money wise.
You can put a solo seat on any bike. I wanted different bars than apes anyway as I already have a bike with apes.
don't all the new dyna's have black engines? I think the parts that are chrome are actually easier to keep clean
Nope. The SGC comes with chrome. Switchback too. I think the WG can be had either way (not sure.)
For me, cleanliness depends on how clean you expect it to be. Chrome can be clean, but not polished well. Black is a quick soap and water brush, a quick application of S100, rinse and go.
OP.
My advice? Don't look at the bike as it sits, envision how you would (will) mod it.
Once you have a vision of your style, then decide whether black or chrome is your thing.
I think everyone who is looking at dynas goes through this same decision...which one to buy....for me the price off the SGC and SB was enough for me to narrow it down...from there the chrome motor was the final straw...to me it looks much better...i did want the 103 motor but after riding many bikes with the stock 103 i can say my 96' tuned with a stage 1 is enough power for me...and after some mods it can be whatever you want....thats the beauty off the dyna family...you will be happy wih whatever YOU choose...my advice do a google search of dynas to get an idea then test ride and you will no doubt have your mind made up..good luck
