Being that it is winter and I have too much time to think about stuff is killing me. I am going to buy a Dyna in the next few months and have bounced back and forth between which model to get. I was set on a Switchback but have since cancelled that out. Then I was thinking a Street Bob would be it. But then I started looking at the Super Glide now I am on the fence again. They are essentially the same bike with a little different look.
I already own a 2013 Sportster 72 that I am not selling, I am adding a daily rider that will be a Dyna. The SG already comes ready for two up which is a plus. I can always buy a solo seat. I like the rear fender set up on the SB but don't hate the SG set up. It's pretty much down to if I want chrome or black.
That's what sold me. Chrome. I like chrome. I would have went with a Fat Bob if they would have had chrome on them. Then again cleaning spokes is a pain but when they are clean they are beautiful.
Lots... in November got creamed by a car - and still don't know if my 2012 XL1200C is going to be totaled (just discovered subframe damage...it's not looking good). So I started thinking Dyna. Can't afford much more and not sure I want the extra weight for my commute anyway. All my bikes have been mid-control, so the Dyna Custom immediately appealed. The fact that it costs a grand (or more) less than the rest of the Dyna line is also a factor.
I didn't really want the yellow when I got mine. I had to pick between the blue and the yellow if I wanted mine the day I got it. That pearl yellow though it grows on you. It did me anyway. If I had a buck for every time someone has commented on it I swear it would be paid off already!
I just bought a new Super Glide, couldn't be happier. Added Leather Works bags and an HD touring windshield. Both quick detach for cruiser and touring modes.
For me it was the black and chrome, while the SG and SB are about the same the bars and seat changed my mind as I went in looking to buy the SG,
As you can see by my sig picture I made the Street Bob my own combining the best of both worlds.
Could have picked any model but the FXDC just seemed to call my name for it's looks and the price seemed to attract my sense of value..couldn't be happier, great ride, look and value.
Do all the Street Bobs come with blacked out engines? I thought I saw some had chrome just like the SG. Anyhow, I wouldn't worry about the seat cause you'll probably swap it out regardless of what bike you get. I personally like the bars on the SB better, but again, those could be easily swapped out too. Good luck.
