after searching a tons of different pages I was wondering if somebody knows where I can get a "High Output Charging system for a Street Bob Dyna 2007"?
I'm still on my Dyna bagger project and it seems to be that the audio system that I would like to buy wouldn't go with the stock alternator (493Watt 35A @ aprox. 3000 rpm)
I found a lot of pages incl. HD for touring models but nothing for the dynas :-( the maximum what I found was 40 A
Here in Valencia / Spain it's not raining a lot so I thought probably put a digital D-class amp for less consumtion but high power...well, "high power? is that really true?? haha)
Here in europe there are many guys who put some carspeakers in their bike, but actually thinking of the components of a car hifi speaker is made for "closed" application and not for "outdoor". That why I was thinking of using probably PA-speakers?
I wouldn't mind loosing the space of my saddlebags so if there are some "professionals" out there please help.
the first thing what i thought WOW How cheap... then i changed the sorting list from high to low and BBAAAMMM!! ups...800€!!!
I just got a new information for all dynas from 2006 to 2010 who also would like to change their charging system on their bike...
All rotors from 2007-2010 have the same part numbers (40356-07). The stators from the touring bikes have 50A(29987-06B) instead of our 35A!
That also means that in other shops who are selling system for the EFI Tourers it would be also possible to install them!
But slight in the year 2010 they made a change.
if you want to double ckeck it for your self look here:
Are you sure you need the extra amps. Most audio stuff is rated at peak power to the speakers. What you need to design is what the thing will actually use. Look at what size fuse powers the unit. I've seen a lot of stereos that advertise 300 watts but use a 10 amp fuse (120w at 12VDC). The next question is, are you really going to run it at peak power all of the time. On top of this, no decent engineer is going to fuse his design that close. If it has a 10 amp fuse, it probably will only pull about 8 amps.
I'm not trying to burst any bubbles, but you might be able to save some coin.
the police bikes run a 45 amp charging system , you can just order the stator and new regulator off any fxdp 2004 and put on your bike or off any late model police bike

Seems that you would run the same regulator as the touring bikes if you are changing out the stator, right?
wrong , you will fry your regulator with in few hundred miles and it will then fry a whole bunch of electronics and blow every light you have on bike after regulator goes . so you need new stator and regulator

So if you use the stator from the touring bike you dont use the regulator from it also? Wouldnt think it would fry everything...what new regulator would you use then?

READ carefully what he wrote so the OP isn't confused by your response.
You just said the same thing he already said. Which was; If you're going to swap out the stator for a higher output model from the Touring line, swap the regulator/rectifier as well.
OP,
I put a cycle electric charging system kit on my WG. It has 45 amps and is the best thing I have done so far. The kit is a little pricey but well worth the money. The kit comes with all the parts you need to do the upgrade. They may even offer a 50 amp model.
