When painting plastic and you want it to last, scuff it lightly with a grey(fine) scrotchbrite (brand doesn't much matter they are all very similiar), clean with an alcohol based degreaser (petroleum based degreasers can pull release agents out of the plastic, causing poor adhesion). Spray with an adhesion promoter like Bulldog. Then you can paint it with a wide variety of aerosol or automotive paints and/or clears (preferably with flex-agents added for flexible parts). Fusion works well and is a bit more flexible than some paints, which makes it ideal for plastics.

My HD fairing is due in this week, now I have to find someplace who does good work to get it painted.
I'm looking forward though to getting it all done and put together.
