yea im thinking some sort of a;;thread puller would work best
it is just so tempting to beat on stuff
i guess if i make a puller a can use it to install the new bearing too, with some minor mods
HH I used some 5/8 all thread and some pieces of pipe and a steel plat on the other side to remove mine. Not difficult or expensive. Look at the correct tool and make your own.
this worked good and cheap
just like you said the race is stuck on the final drive gear and in the tranny case, but everything came out. ball bearing when everywhere
now a stupid question, can i just hose the gear set down with carb cleaner to clean it up so i can see what im dealin with

Yup. Clean it up and see what you have. P.S. dont forget the o-ring when re installing cause you get one chance per bearing.
i am waiting on parts
decide to replace main shaft, and got all bearings and clips, seals to do everythig and basically rebuild tranny
also ordered the baker manual tensioner, also hear by fri
i am still insure what to do with the compensator, the extension is worn as shown on the photo. i was always told to replace mating parts at the same time. so that would mean i would have to replace the slide too. So as i see it the options are: run it the way it is( it may be fine for all i know), or replace stock extension only $45, or replace extension and slide $90, or get SE compenssator $300.
