Yours should be simple compared to my old Tour Glide, what a pita to even get to the fork caps; the instrument housing is stuffed with wires and air suspension parts. Haven't pulled the primary cover yet, almost afraid to. Hear so much about worn compensators, wonder what I'll find on this '89 with 122K on it. Fairly new engine put in before I got it, but the owner didn't know if the compensator was replaced (the transmission was!). This project is already running over $2K, as always, about everything I thought might have to be replaced, is, and of course there's the unexpected, like the frame welding, both pulleys... Bet if we bought brand new bikes, we'd be into them in a couple years, so hard to be satisfied with what you have.

soft
when you got you new shaft was it the same as your old one

Mine is slightly different
the shaft has a small step up to keep the race from drifting inward and the race that comes with the kit has a slightly smaller inner diameter
my baker bearing fits loose on the new shaft where it will ride but fits perfect after the step up
i was really want ing to use the baker bearing but now i am not sure. it seems loose

the shaft transitions from .975 to .985 and it looks like the bearing will be on the smaller diameter

Good question. I will check it tomorrow. I know in 08 they changed the shaft diameter. Hope you didn't get a 08 shaft. I'll spec mine. I have a tranny day thread in the tranny section.

Post up a good pick of your shaft so I can visually compare it to mine.

i dont think you can see it in a picture
it makes me mad, because i dont see any way to use the baker bearing now
