Thanks for all the advice guys, some stuff I would have not thought of. Still got a few months before I head out, hopefully a few good thousand miles on my scoot too!
I wouldn't leave anything plugged in for a long time, especially a deployment.
I mean, how good is your insurance? The point is, you're supplying electricity into something you will be unable to supervise. Just remove it and leave it.
Stabil is garbage, Start running Ethanol free fuel, or at least do so for the last 2 tanks you ride it. Top off tank with E Free fuel prior to storage.
It really is hard on a bike to be stored, Climate controlled units are best to prevent rust and corrosion. Do you have anybody that can be trusted to push the bike out and start it up? I do not recommend leaving the bike on a tender unsupervised in a storage unit. I think my HD dealer offers storage services, have you checked into this?

If others will be near vehicle consider placing some kind of bike cover on it to deter individuals or animals from sitting on it.
Consider placement of something to repel bugs & rodents.
Removal of battery will lesson possibility of someone trying to start bike or possibility of acid or electrical issues.
Some people like leaving bike on a jack but i guess it depends on how much you trust that it will not fail or tip-over. Unless it is located in some unusual climate modern tires will recover from flat spot rather rapidly.
The S100 rust spray is rather good to coat and protect before storage.
Wish you a safe return.
Let a dealer prep for storage, store at the dealer, pay for the storage and maybe you can claim storage fees on a tax return due to deployment? It's secure no one will screw with your bike.
Good luck and be safe on the upcoming deployment. From an even numbered retired Chief.
If you weren't all the way across the country I would take care of it for you. Climate controlled shop and would start and run it for you. Be right here when you come back ready to roll. Hope you find the solution!
