Looking at the factory service manual, it shows a hex spacer (.070 thick) between the alternator and shaft extension under the compensator sprocket.
I don't think mine had this. I don't remember removing it, and can't find it in the removed parts anywhere. Bike hasn't been apart before (only has 10,000 miles). Do I need to order one? Did some bikes come without them?
Interesting. First thing I did was check Ronnie's. The diagram they show for '03 shows a completely different compensator sprocket assembly than mine. Other than the hex socket, mine looks just like what's in the FSM. The actual "fingers" off the sprocket assembly in the manual looks like mine. Ronnie's has some sort of half moon thing going on.

My '03 Dyna Parts Catalog doesn't show the spacer either.
The Clymer Book states there's a spacer in 1999-2000 models and a different one in 2001 Dyna models.
