so i bought this o1 wideglide late last summer and put about 700 miles or so before placing it in storage. i knew i wanted to upgrade the tires and brakes before next spring and while on a recent buying frenzy(tax time) i purchased to new michelin commander 2 tires in the size recommended in the michelin buyers guide (80/90/21 and 130/90b/16). when i pulled the bike from storage i noticed the front tire size on the bike was 90/90/21 and the rim appears to be 2.75 inches wide instead of 2.15 inches. i thought it was a oe rim but that should be 2.15 ?? soooo... what now??? repurchase a new tire in the larger size? run what i got? other options??
so you dont feel the smaller tire on a larger rim is an issue for handling? i bought the michelins for longevity so i dont want be stuck with a crappy set up for the duration....thanks for your responses
the 90/90 tire is still mounted so the width measurement is a best guess with my digital calipers approximating the bead seat (but shes at least 2.5 and closer to 2.75) obviously been upgraded (as suggested). returning to the supplier for a exchange cant happen as they were bought in the US so by the time the shipping/brokerage smoke clears id be to far behind and may as well resell locally to reduce the loss.
