Default Detach Driver Backrest

I have begun fabricating a detachable driver backrest for my bike for when I'm riding solo. It attaches to the same mounts as the passenger detach backrest. I've needed a backrest to give my arms some relief, but the only options I could find involved a new seat that is way out of my price range or modifying the seat I have (which I don't like the idea of doing).

The reason I'm posting this is to see if anybody else would have any interest in something like this. Not sure if I want to make it all 1 piece or make it so a common sissy bar can be used. Thoughts?

I basically grew up in a metal fabrication shop, so I figured why not create something nobody else has done (that I know of). If there is something similar out there that you know of please let me know. I've done a lot of searching and never found anything like this, but ya never know.

I'll post pics when I get the prototype done.

That's what I'm talking about! Why buy it when you can build it!?! Can't wait to see this!

Sounds interesting!!

I have a Mustang Vintage seat with a fold-down backrest and it works pretty well, but there's always
room for improvement!

I made one too. It slips into a channel between the seats in a second. Used a 2006 Wideglide seat and shaped it the way I wanted it.

I made it when I had back problems...don't run it much anymore, but it's nice to have.

Don't mind the fringe and the fairing...it was just a phase!

Are you thinking about fabricating a Detach Backrest similar to HD`s one they have for the Sportster models?
