After reading, all morning, about C&C solo with backrest, the one question I have left (because of differing responses I read) is.....is the backrest tall enough and does it actually adjust? My passenger stock backrest sits fairly high (in my opinion) and supports me...I read that some think the C&C backrest is too low and they had to change some bracket....some said the backrest is adjustable and some said no. Any info would help. Everyone seems to like this guy Chuck, so I plan to call him. Well...that's two questions, I think.
edit* just spoke to Chuck and he says $495 for C&C solo with backrest...then a 10% hdforum discount. He also says the backrests adjusts a "little" fore and aft----wish I knew what a "little" meant. I'm thinking black with the Mercedes texture...and red stitching. I have a MB and I'm a fan of that texture.

A very timely question. I am about to fire up the tig welder today for a mod on my C&C backrest. Yes, the stock backrest setup is too low. It catches the top of your rump rather than the curve of your back. I called C&C to ask if they had a taller bar and they only have one about a 1/2 inch taller to accommodate the Fastback seats. Yes it is adjustable, but only the angle of the backrest and not fore and aft like the Mustang backrest. Anyway, I made a new bar out of 1.5"x .25" stainless about 2 1/2 inches taller than the stock one and I am going to tig weld the stock bar to my new one on a hinge. Then I am going to run a longer thumb screw through my new bar to push the hinged part (to which the backrest is attached) toward the curve of my back. I hope I described it such that you can picture it. I'll post pics when I'm done. C&C make a great seat, but the Mustang backrest setup beats C&C's hands down.
this sucks!! My buddy has a mustang and his backrest so much better, but the seat "lifts" you a bit...and I don't want to be lifted any

For whats its worth I've had C&C do seats on my last 5 bikes. There is a reason I keep going back. The backrest is slightly adjustable with a allen head bolt. Although the adjustment is "slight" on the backrest, it makes more adjustment on the fore/aft movement than you think. Also, at 52 years young, with an extremely rough job, that has tore up my back, I think the backrest is at the perfect height.
On another note..... I am getting close to buying a 2014 SGS, so I may have my C&C set up for sale at a great price in the very near future (Solo + Pillion + Backrest). No red stiching but it's in perfect condition.
I think I'm going to order...I truly appreciate the feedback. At 41, but with a back of a 60 yr old (thanks to 20 yrs with Uncle Sam)...I'm taking the dive. Enough ppl have said great things about it, including you.

Just going to add a few pics of the last couple Chuck made for me. The backrest fits perfect....AND.... I did try the Harley backrest.... Biggest piece of doo-doo I ever saw. Looked like crap on the bike, and up way too high. You'll like the C&C!

Another big fan of C&C. Their quality is excellent and so is their customer service! I have the solo with backrest and, as everyone else stated, the adjustment is slight although, in my opinion, enough to support my lower back properly.
Recently did a trip from San Francisco to NYC and back and averaged about 550 miles per day and the solo and backrest combo worked great!
I love the seat guys, But am going back to stock. The C&C backrest is not tall enough for me. It felt fine with my stock bars, but I added 12 MBB and the one inch back/one inch down that the C&C provides makes me feel like I'm reaching for the bars...and I don't want to rotate the bars just yet...BECAUSE...the C&C backrest is no good "for me." I feel it on the top of my butt more than I feel it on my back. I can't lay back and just relax on it at all. Again...I love the seat...at least my butt does and I may keep it for local riding.
If I could have it a little taller and have the entire backrest moved forward towards me, it would be great. For me, it's more of a backstop to prevent me from sliding back during acceleration. But I'm not giving up on it because it's an awesome seat.
