Default What to buy?

I have a 2012 custom 1200 CP that has to many mods to list. I love this bike for around town but with 2 up or over 70mph not so much. I am going to replace it but would like feed back from owners. I am 5'10 190lb with a 32 inseam and all body parts work. I live in Az. and ride every day to work 16 miles round trip through town. Every weekend I do 100 to 300 mile ride wife comes with me once a month. I work a lot so I do not foresee the cross-country ride for 10 years. The bikes that I am conserving are a Switchback-Road King or a Electra Glide classic. I am Not new to riding but the Custom is the 1st H-D I have had with a electric start. I welcome your comments

I was kind of in the same boat ... but I went from roadking to street bob. Loved the king but like you I am in town work and back. The king was just to big for in town.

Best thing I ever did was going to Dyna. Not to big, not to small.

If you do most of your riding in town a big bagger is not the way to go. IMO

Super Glide Custom. Best ''all around'' bike I've ever owned.

I went from a 2009 Nightster to a 2012 Street Bob. Big difference in long haul comfort, IMO. Added highway pegs and a sissybar to the SB and only added to the comfort and convenience. The Dyna's are still fun to whip around town like the sportster was.

I've only been riding for 4 years, so I don't have any experience with the larger touring bikes yet. Like you, I could see one in my future when I have more leisure time, but not yet. Good luck on your choice.

I was in the same boat. I had an 02 1200c, many mods, I love that bike. I wanted something bigger as I was using it to commute to work, and the occasional long ride. I got then got an 03 Road King. Great bike as I took a job 3.5 hours from home and would commute back and forth on the weekends, I really think its a great all around bike. Love that bike. I then got an 07 Super Glide Custom, I love that bike too. I still have them all, Im attached to all of them, call me sentimental or whatever. They all have a different purpose. Keep the sporty and add to the stable. If I really want to put a smile on my face, Ill take the sporty.

Default Had them both

I had a Road King Custom from 2005 through 2013 and rode the hell out of it. Very comfortable for two up and once you are moving it will lean down anywhere you put it. The removable windshield was great on hot days and the bags were so convenient. Hurricane Sandy took the RK to Hog Heaven and after test riding a ton of bikes I bought a new Super Glide Custom. It does everything the Road Ring did but with attitude! It is 200 pounds lighter with a bigger motor. My riding fun factor has improved TENFOLD. I added a removable windshield and rack for carrying some stuff.
In case you didn't get my point I LOVE THE DYNA AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND ONE FOR YOU. Oh, my wife loves the thrill the Dyna gives her more than the Road King did.
That's all I have to say about that. Good Luck!

Love my 13 switchback, had a 02 Electraglide and a 77 xlh sportster. The switchback handles good, has good response, and hard saddlebags. A good all around bike. Clay

How are the Dyna's on the Highway? I have to do some freeway riding as I have rode every back road for 200 miles 3 times. Like I posted the custom gets light-footed over 70 mph.
