Default LED versus Standard Lights versus Additional Lighting

Probably been a bunch of threads on this subject... I'll take a look at the archives, but I'm interested in your opinions.

I'm getting my Low Rider in a few weeks and want to make a few modifications. I'll be adding some pegs for sure, but also interested in adding additional lighting. Both for the cool factor and the additional safety.

Who here is running LED lights? Either turn signal or headlamp/tail? Was it an easy add-on? Worth the money in your opinion? Any suggestions?

For those who were thinking of LED but decided against it - any reason?

Did anyone add additional headlamps to their Dyna? I was looking at some fork-mounted spotlights that looked cool and added additional light for driving. Any concerns? Issues? Thoughts?

Thanks!!!

I upgraded the headlamp to the HD Daymaker - Huge improvement. Huge.

I upgraded front turn signal to CD LED running lights (white halo)/amber turn signals.
At the same time, I upgraded rear turn/brake light bullets to CD LED bulbs. Huge improvement there, too.

LEDs are a bazillion times brighter than incandescent bulbs. Draw less juice, too. Don't wear out either (or at least not for many years).

A buddy works for Rigid Industries and has offered me a deal on their engine guard LED driving lights. I'll post pics if/when I go down that road.

the custom dynamics led turn signals are a drop in replacement for bulbs. cant be any easier to do. there are several other 1156/1157 drop in led bulbs. but i think the CD ones were the brightest.

for tail lights the custom dynamics or brightasslights are both excellent. and significantly brighter than the kury kit. both are extremely easy to install. the brightasslight has a flasher module built in. i use the CD rtb/flasher module so it hits the turn signals also.

if i remember right the low rider uses the 5 3/4 headlight. so the daymaker is your only real option unless you want to experiment with some of the drop in led bulbs. if its 7" there are a few more options.

for aux driving lights there are a tons of options. the harley lights ( and most other vendors) are 4.5" and you can use the trucklight, daymaker or drop in led's.

the rigid 6" sr2 lightbar should mount under the lower triple tree ( unfortunately the guy on the super tenere forum deleted his video but it looked amazing). it'll take some drilling or it can probably be adapted to a fork mount. looking at this for mine because of fairing install.

the new lowriders dont need load equalizers.

the only downside to LEDs are the initial cost.

$24 hid kit pair from ebay good enough, I used one and keep the other as spare. I wouldn't mind to spend money on led lamp but don't like the look of it. I can never go back to halogen bulb.

I have LEDs on the rear of the bike, turns and tail, from Custom Dynamics and there's not an easier mod... it's all plug and play and super bright - first ride after install my buddy behind me thought my brake light was was on all the time, until he actually seen it light up!

A couple of LEDs on the board have since gone out but I'm still really happy with it

Thanks everyone- definitely thinking of doing this. I'll be running an 08 lowrider so I'll need the load equalizer. Does it come with the lights or do you need to purchase separately?

Is there an issue with wattage using that light?
