Yep your gripping too hard. I did the same thing when I first started riding. When you loosen up on the grips you will see the cramping going away and you will be amazed how much better your bike handles.
I wrote about this weeks ago when I sat on the Low Rider. The grips on this bike are smaller in diameter than any other big bore Harley. They are the same grips on the Sportster Low. The sales guy confirmed the bike is made for people of smaller stature to be comfortable on (spelled WOMEN) and he said most guys with average man's hands will swap out the grips.
You still may be using the death grip (which you should not do) but I rode a Sportster last summer for a half hour and my hands felt the difference for sure.

I got a set of HD Get-A-Grip Magnums for my FXD. They're 1.6 inches in diameter. They also get larger towards the center. They're very comfortable and noticably relive hand strain for me on longer rides compared to the stock grips.

Its mainly because you are a new rider like others have said. When I first got back to riding I was holding on for all I was worth with my hands AND my thighs. Thighmaster didn't have squat on me!
Like they have said, Loosen your grip(will happen naturally over time) and remember, no matter how close, or far away to King Kong you are, you are still using new muscles as well.
I had the exact same problem and a guy on here told me to pretend I was holding eggs. Sounds stupid, but for me it actually worked. Once I learned to relax my grip and relax on the bike the problem mostly went away. After I added from Kuryakyn grips everything was beautiful.
I'd be interested in a pic of this as well. Does it just make the grip longer?
Cramping is usually gripping too tight, but numbness could be a nerve issue and should be checked out.
It slides over the end of the throttle and looks like an "O" that has an trailing end. Yeah, that doesn't help much does it? I need to post pics - stand by...
Yea I agree you are probably gripping too tight. Also, get yourself a tennis ball to squeeze with both hands when you are sitting around. You might need to loosen up the muscles in your hands.
