Default Help with rigid sideplate install, please?

I got the front screw in after about an hour of frustration. I got the screw started, but left it loose, so the rear would be easier, hopefully. That did not work.

The rear screw is all the way through the bracket, fender and taillight wing, but not threaded onto the light housing. I can see the end of the screw even with the opening at the end of the wing. I can't get through far enough to start thread on the light.

A barrel of the bracket (inside the fender) protrudes to the exterior. I cannot see any of the barrel on the other side of the bike, because everything is squeezed together. However, the barrel still shows between the fender and fender support. It is like the barrel should go through the fender support, too. But, it doesn't.

Stock gear side, with good factory fit:

Brake side that I'm having trouble with:

Sorry, didn't have time for tripod shot.

Any recommendations appreciated.

Well! Job done. Bought a small clamp to keep everything together, once I had them aligned. Front first, then rear. Also bought a ratcheting wrench that made the work much easier. So, three hours for the first one .... thirty minutes for the second.

I never had any trouble with getting the rear screw out on either side, like some others. Used needle nose pliers to help them along. Detachable saddlebags are now out of the question. Don't want to screw with sideplates, again. :>)

It was the camera's fault. Yea, never been accused of being artistic ... or real bright (for that matter) :>)
