Hi I have a 2008 fat bob . I removed the tank to have it painted and now am having trouble connecting the quick disconnect fuel line back in without it leaking . I have read many posts on this issue and cannot seem to find the correct o ring for the fuel line . In looking at the male end of the fuel line it looks like there would be an o ring that fits in a groove . Is this correct ? I have read many different posts with many different size o rings with no success. Does anyone know if in fact the o ring does go in the groove or does it go up in the check valve . Any help would be appreciated .
I had that problem, and the only fix is to replace the quick disconnect fitting that has that "O" ring in it. The quick connect fitting is made in such a way as to prevent replacement without ruining it. Unfortunately, you have to drain the tank, and disconnect the wire to the fuel gauge in order to gain access to the fitting inside the tank (with the proper tool) connected to the quick disconnect fitting. Have fun.

The leaking O Ring is in the female end, look up inside the tank fitting, pick that o ring out and match it up wit a hardware store o ring.
Mine did the same thing, cost me 30 cents to fix it. The above post is incorrect, you dont have to buy the entire fitting, nor do you have to drain your tank.
Its the same o-ring that goes on your oil drain plugs. Dealer sells them for about .99. A dental pick with a 90 degree turn at the end will get it out. Buy a few spare o-rings in case you damage the new one getting it in.
Thanks for all the help !!! Since I had drained the fuel to have the tank painted i just took it back off and flipped it upside down and popped the old gasket out and put in the new one. Put her all back together and went for a ride . Wow it felt great !!!!
Ok, so I have read SO many conflicting stories.....
I have a leak. I popped it apart and fuel is free flowing out of the 'Q.D.'
(see photo)
Is that normal???
I'm thinking it is NOT. There is no O-ring on the fuel line. (see photo)
So I pose the very same question:
Does the O-ring go on the fuel line, or IN the quick disconnect?
I can see a distinct spot for it on the fuel line. (see photo)
And as there was NOT one on there when I removed it, is it stuck up insde
the Q.D.??? (I had no mirror to look up in there at the time of writing)
