i have priced out DLC coating tubes was $275 per tube and that did not include cutting the tube open to remove the bushing and then re welding it up. after i saw that i was out. that was in the US, to be honest the only guy i would trust wtih this is Pete at Rocket bobs. that is who you should call
there are bushings inside the tubes, they can not take the heat... Pete can explain the whole process to you. for me i made some upper covers and run fork boots. $50 problem solved... we are going to test a new coating we stock now we use on fire arms for a bike we are building if that works we can low temp cure it so we will not have to cut the tubes up. here is the black in that finish
Vinyl wrap, aluminum tubing, steel tubing, pvc tubing, all viable and easy options for blacking out that upper leg, and fork boots while played out are about the easiest way to do the other half. Unless you go all Bill Gates budget and nitride em which is killer looking and all but yeah.
RG3 Suspension has a coating called DLC which I assume is the same as you are referring to. They quoted me $275 for the pair. Did not say the tube had to be cut either, but I did not know that either.

I wonder that too, not saying it's not for real, but I did not know of bushings in the tubes themselves. I know of the bushing in the lower leg and on the outside of the tube. I am going to send them another email about it. No way I would let someone cut my fork tube to remove a bushing.
Look in the bottom of a fork tube when you have the damper rod out, you will see a white plastic bushing in there, all dyna's have it, actually most all tubes do. Most places don't say because they are coaters not bike builders... We are both. DLC still has a very high heat cure, same reason when. We tried to powder, wets an and buff tubes in the past to make it work I could not use them, melted inner bushings. They are in there. I get lowers in all the time for tear down/powder next set I get in I can show you.
An yes that is cerakote pictured on those firearms parts
