1996 FXDL - Couple of week ago, right before I got home I notices the speedo was registering 20-25 mph. I ran it through the gears 0-20 pretty normal once it hit 20-25 it would fall off then come back to 20 or so. Cleaned the speed sensor (slight metal shavings) same results. Changed speed sensor and cleaned all contact on speedo terminal connector - same results. Don't have the HD instrument to drive a frequency to the speedo. Ideas????
Made it to page 4 with no answer, so I'm done. The speedo on my Ultra works, at least to 125. The speedo on the 80 FXB is reproduction, but works and I've put 123 miles on it in 1 1/2 years - (it's more of a keeper).
So ever though the the Countess, 96 FXDL is the quickest, I guess I'll just have to be satisfied that if I get there first it was faster than others, if not either it was slower or I wasn't in a hurry. Not spending $400 without being sure.
