I put an HID in my 01 fxdx, plug and play, no real issues.
I'll be taking it out though, I don't like it. It's 6000k which is way too blue IMO, and since our lights aren't designed for it, the light was kind of everywhere…hot spots and dark spots, some in the trees, some to the side, some in front. I didn't feel very safe with all the deer around.
Now it's time to decide if I just put a brighter halogen bulb in, or spend the money on the LED day maker…ugh...
none of mine go to the battery, they are not relay harnesses, on my HD i never saw a need for them. i order all my hid stuff from ebay, xentec stuff works great and is only like $30 or so.
I do keep spare ballasts on hand just in case (you will have a spare ballast and bulb with your kit if you order a car kit as they come with 2)
my truck runs DTRL so i did have to do a relay setup in that to prevent flicker. works just fine.
Nice!! Been thinking of putting hids on my scoot jus not sure where to get them for the best price any suggestions?
There's always bad reviews about everyplace out there, but I've run DDM HID's in numerous vehicles of mine and installed them in lots of friends. I've also converted both our vehicles to full LED interior/exterior lights. I've never had a ballast or bulb go out and if there was ever an issue with an order they always sent me replacement parts with no questions asked.

Here's a quick pictorial I just made explaining the different types of set-ups:
DDM sells the motorcycle low beam only kits for $22.50, but if I had my time back I would of ordered the car H4 kit. That way I'd have a spare ballast and bulb which is only $30... Live n' Learn haha!
Joe does your H4 bulbs have the little metal shroud on them to block the light from reflecting off the bottom of the housing?
Also did you leave the little round shroud in the factory headlamp in place?
yes sir they do, yes i leave the deflectors on stock HD lamps, but on mine i have none. your pics have a relay setup that needs conected to the battery not bad at all and prevents flicker on some vehicles (sport bikes this is needed) HD's i have not run into any issues on any i have installed

I'm gonna run the HID setup without the relay harness at first and see how it performs. Assuming it won't flicker or overheat, i'll leave it as is.
If it ends up posing any issues i'll hook up with the relay harness.
