I could be wrong, but I think the codes were coming from either hooking it up to the wrong harness or something similar when transferring data at install. I've had no problem with mine... Yet. Haha!
Fitment list for this particular PN doesn't include a 2008 FXDB however, my son's 2008 Streetbob does have a 4" Speedo and not a 5". I don't believe they have all of the fitment information listed or correct for this PN. Also, the sensor kit required in order to utilize the fuel gauge / range functions
Did you have a 6th gear light on the other speedo?
I have it on my 05 and it is now not listed. It was a little over a year and half ago.
The fuel gauge works, but my bike has one. To my understanding it can not use any function that are not already there. Speedo lighting is built into the speedo.
So If you did not have it with the factory speedo you won't have it with the new one.
not sure if it has been corrected. Mine throws codes but I do not care. I needed the tach. That is all I was after. Throws a u code.
A lot of bikes (years/Dyna bikes) has been removed from the list. This could be their solution. Not sure, just guessing.

The Harley website info for this part 70900274 is misleading. At the top it clearly says it fits 04-11 Dynas. If you look at the individual years listed below it doesn't list any Dyna, just applicable Sportster models. I installed this speedo/tach on my 11 WG with zero issues. On the 08 model the gear indicator should work. In the set up mode it will display an "8" on the right side of the display when the function is turned on. There is not a green "6" light like stock. I believe the 04-06 models were throwing codes.
Hey Ben Marsh
So my HD speedo/tach (nostalgic/obsolete) thats coming tuesday will not read the actual milage of my bike 07 sftldlx until i go 31.5 miles ?

Your mileage is stored in your ecm. Your mileage will read correct but after 31.5 miles the Speedo marries to the ecm. After that you can't stick it in another bike and have the mileage display correctly. I think it reads vin error or something similar. It's to keep people from tampering with the mileage.
