I was going to do wood with my build before I thought about gear drive. Main reason I didn't go wood was that I just kept hearing how loud the cam is....it makes great power due it's aggressive ramps, but also beats up the top end, heads I mean.

I can vouch for that!!!!the noise went away after i swapped out the cams and went alot bigger than the tw 555's
Well, despite the noise and having talked with Bob Wood, I decided to go with his tw-888. If I end up hating it, it's an easy swap. So, full build, flywheel plugged, welded, balanced, trued and lightened. Revolution 107 kit. With SE CNC heads. Sticking with a stock throttle body for now but may upgrade that if my first dyno seems shallow. Also doing the high volume oil pump and cam plate, as well as the SE compensator and feuling lifters. Hoping it's a decent strong build that I can have some fun with and put some worry free milage on.

Sounds SOLID as hell man!!! Nice setup and wise choices!!!......this has to be past your 2k budget though (always happens).
**** Dynam1te! Just noticed this thread! Sorry to hear man! Wanna borrow my sportster so you're still riding in the meantime? Or have you gotten your hands on anything?
Biggest reason on the SE heads is, I'm getting a good deal on them. Otherwise I think the FM heads are just as awesome. In fact bob recommended the FM kit, those two have each other figured out.
And B2, thanks man that's a kind offer but I have other bikes I can ride, perks of the job
The timing and unexpected cash outlay sucks, but you're going to love the motor. I'm glad to hear about the lightened crank. A quick-revving motor is major fun.
