I saw a guy's Street Bob who had some hardware mounted to the side of his rear fender stays and had an old school military looking courier bag strapped to the side. It was so sick. They were extended bolts with a notch behind the head where your bag eyelet went over and caught then smooth n flat shank before the threaded portion that screwed into fender stay and upper shock mount. This caused the bolts to stand off approx 3/4" to 1" from the fender stay. Anyone know of anything like that?
Easy Brackets mount to the struts for saddle bags, cam bolts replace the strut bolts. Or do you mean a swingarm bag, You can use a kit from Dead Creek Cycles
It mounted to the rear fender stay. Not sure what he used to keep the soft bag from moving into the rear rim and or belt drive area. I'd assume he'd need a guard or lower mount point. He works at the local Harley dealer so I'm gonna try to see the bike again and snap some pics.
Sorry yes the strut. If you watch the install video on their site he had extended bolts much like the ones you first mount to the strut. They had a deep notch cut into them that the eyelets of his bag settled into when he slid the eyelet over the bolt. The bag just dangled from the bolts. What I can't figure out is if you use a soft bag like this
how do you keep the bottom from flopping around and getting into the drive or rear wheel. I guess I may have to search his bike out and inspect it closer.
Click on this link. those slotted bolts come with the easy Brackets. The slip on eyelets bolt to the bags, giving them support. If the bags are real soft you'll have to add a plate inside the bag.
That messanger bag is really soft, you may need to add a plate inside and out. It won't stand up to weather and wind buffeting.
