Default Jagg 10 Row Oil Cooler Update...................

I had posted a thread when I installed the new Jagg 10 Row Low mount oil cooler...........
It was quite a bit cooler when I did the original install, and I had found much lower oil temps at that time......25 - 30 degree's cooler......
Now weather is much warmer 90+ degree's and riding on city street's stop light to stop light, I have found almost the same cooler oil temps.......20 -30 degree's cooler...........
I was curious as to what these temps would be once the weather warmed up ...
So much to my delight, the engine run's on average 20 to 25 degree's cooler than with no oil cooler...........
Prior to the oil cooler install I would see oil temps running at 260 - 270 degree's on city street's............
Now with the installed oil cooler these temps are running between 225 to 248 degree's is the hottest temp I have seen............
I wanted to share my result's with you all, and for all you guy's on the fence I believe this would be a very good investment for the longevity of the engine.

I hope this information was helpful............

when it's 90 degrees outside and you are sitting at a red light on burning hot asphalt . . . can YOU really feel a 20 degree difference?

It doesn't matter to me if I can feel the difference, I'm more concerned about the engine. I don't know why these bikes don't come with oil coolers from the factory, I can't see any disadvantage to having one, other than cost and another thing to possibly leak oil.

When air flows through the fins the oil is cooled by convection, when the bike is not moving the oil is cooled by conduction, just not as efficient as air moving through it. My 2013 has a stock cooler and my two Dynas have the coolers mounted on the down tube out of the heat off the road surface.

I have a six row but took it off for the winter as it started to leak at the adapter oil ring.
I plan to re-install soon. I had a line pop off a couple years ago and made a mess of my bike including some fancy driving through the turns.
I ended up modifying to fit the fittings and stainless steel lines. Cured that problem.
This new leak was due to vibration loosening up the adapter some even though I had an anti-rotation device installed.
we will see how it goes with a new gasket. I'll tighten a bit more this time.
Oil coolers do work, but it is just one more thing to keep your eye on.

2014 Harley Shop Manual (page 3-3) lists Oil pressure of 30-38 PSI @ 2000 RPM and a normal operating temperature of 230 degrees.

I fit right in there with the stock Rushmore cooler, I was thinking about going to the slightly larger Jagg to replace the the OEM, just as a fun thing and something to do, that I may or may not ...
