Just tell her you need one to protect your LR. The DE will pay for itself over the long run.
She said one of my many other guns would do the job just fine lmao. That's ok right now I'm focusing on AR upgrades and ammo stock piling anyways. Which caliber did you end up going with?

Went with 44 Mag. I have owned 41 and 44 Mag DEs back in the 90s and early 2000s. Shot the DE 50 when it first came out at a local range. 50 AE ammo is pricey to say the least.

Yeah it is, buddy of mine has a .50 BMG rifle I forget the brand but one of the single shot rifles, its a hoot to fire but very pricey. I shoot a lot when I can make it to the range so I try to stick to the more realistic priced ammo. I would love to have a PS90 and a FN57 as they are fun to shoot and I love the weird simplistic design of the PS90 but I can't justify the cost of ammo. It roughly 30 bucks to fill one PS90 magazine. Hoping the introduction of the ruger 5-7 will get some more ammo coming in the 5.7X28 caliber and bring the costs down.

44Mag ammo must be quite spendy, I go thru a lot of 357 and it is very costly to buy new. if one does a lot of shooting you will find reloading equipment pays for itself rapidly.

Most of the guys at my gun club reload and for many reasons. Personally I find I don't have the time, space or inclination to reload, besides I can usually buy on the cheap side at targetsportsusa.com I took delivery of 2K rounds of 9mm and 1K rounds of .223 in the last month. I recently started reloading .223, you can save around 10 cents per round, that adds up over time and pays for a set of dies after about 300 rounds.

I was stocked up on some calibers before all this mess happened, since then I've just been swinging by acadamy and my local gun store for a few boxes at a time as both seem to have kept their prices almost the same as before the pandemic. Dont know if anyone looked at cheaper than dirt but they were and probably still are price gouging horribly. I get supply and demand but that's different than price gouging.
