On Friday I'll be taking a ride out to a dealership where I'll be taking a test ride on a Livewire. Woo hoo!! It's a 150 mile round trip so that'll be fun too. Not sure how much I'll get to do on the LW, I mean I don't think they're going to let me do any drag strip style launches, but just to be able to take one for a spin is an experience I'd like to have.
I assume I need a new ignition switch, but let me know if you think you might know better!
My bike is running fine, but it's developed this very odd fault. When I move the bike out of the garage, the ignition comes on even before I've turned the switch on; it then goes off again and the alarm rearms. Then, then I turn the ignition on, sometimes it comes on and sometimes it doesn't, so sometimes I have to switch it on and off and on a few times until it catches. Curiously, when once I've ridden a few miles and warmed up, the switch works fine the rest of the day (I was nervous I might get stranded!).
So, I guess this means a new switch, unless it's simply a wiring fault that can be rectified.

They have suspended manufacture of the Livewire. There is s problem charging the bike at home and can only be charged at Harley dealers for now. I don't think that electric bikes are practical. As a short ride commuter bike, maybe, but it just doesn't have the battery capacity that a car or truck has...

The factory switch is garbage. I did get stranded with mine one of the times it went out. I've addressed it before but I recommend ditching the stock ignition in favor of keyless ignition and security.

Thanks for sharing your experience. It's helpful to know it isn't just my bike.

Looking forward to hearing about your riding a LW. Hopefully it will kick as much *** as this video:

Harley suspended production in October, 2019 for a very short time because of a charging issue.. I don't see anything about any current suspension of production.
Back a 100 years ago when gas engines were new, the steam engine people were making fun of them. I haven't seen any steam powered cars lately.
Watch the video and see my reaction. I didn't expect this.

Electric vehicles have a tremendous amount of torque and are very fast. That being said it is not a practical vehicle because there's no real range to it. Again, I only see it as a commuter bike, period! Where I live, I could ride to my local dealer and back. What the hell good is that? It's also the reason why my local dealer won't even carry the Livewire. I can't believe that the dealer let you go out on a test ride, that you were videoing, with that loose mirror. Stupid AND dangerous. You did certainly have fun. I'm not saying that it's not fun to ride. I was also reminded of how bad the roads are up north. Moving to North Georgia was the best thing I ever did.
