Figuring out how much rake you'll need to add should probably be first. Do you know the difference in the rake of the two frames?

IIRC, my Super Glide frame was stamped 28 degrees under the tank.

I wanted a little more rake also....I added 3 degrees with raked neck cups.

You could get raked trees, some aftermarket trees go to 5 degrees, maybe more.
Could cut and weld the neck with more rake.
As mentioned, raked neck cups.

good luck

American Iron has a great article on rake and trail this month - a great reference which explains the whole enchilada

the FXDWG uses 3 degree raked trees from the factory, otherwise the two frames are pretty much identical. When choosing triple trees- pay attention to the offset (offset is the distance between the centerline of the steering stem and those of the fork tubes). Usually aftermarket trees are pretty close to stock, if not dead on, but some cheaper ones have additional offset which will reduce trail even further.

another option woiuld be raked neck bearing cups- you still get the additional three degrees rake, but with an increase in trail. RB racing has a rake and trail calculator that you can plug your numbers into and check before you go buying parts.

rake in the trees reduces trail, rake in the neck (frame) increases trail. less offset increases trail, reduced offset reduces trail.

hope that helps.

The 04 LR and Wide Glide are the same frame, they are the only 2 that shared that particular frame, so the easiest way is to simply swap out your trees for WG trees and you will have a WG except for tins.
04 and 05 WG's do not have 3 degree trees, they are 2 degree trees. The frame had 32 and the trees 2 giving them 34 total, the LR only has the 32 frame and 0 trees. 06-08 WG's had 34 degrees in the frame and 2 in the trees.

So putting on an 04 WG trees would give me a total rake of 34 degrees?

Yes, stock WG trees on an 04 LR would give you 34, would be identical to an 04 WG
