To be honest with you, I don't know what grit the paper was specifically. It was a medium grit. Cleaned the shields, sanded, then cleaned them again with windex.

Got the high temp paint phrom a local hardware store.

I did the same thing. Looks real good. About six thousand miles on mine and no chips. I sand blasted mine before I painted them.

Another great mod. Phreak.I'minterestedin how they hold up after some heavy riding. I'v been kinda torn between painting my shields and wrapping my headers.

hi temp powder coating is another option.....looks good and holds up well

I thought about wrapping them, but I really like the look and shape of the pipes with the shields. Their not that pretty without them, so I went the paint route.

I've been looking phor a powder coater around here phor over a year, no luck. Add to that the phact that I ride every day, no car, and I needed something I could do myself in less then a weekend.

Thanks, yeah I think all in all it was less then 5 bux phor the can of paint.
