I got the BBQ paint phrom a local hardware store. Checked Wallyworld, and they didn't have any. The paint seems to stand up will to the UV. I painted my bars with the same paint, and then touched them up when I painted the pipes. No discernible difference between the nearly year old paint and the new.
I was looking phor some of the self etching primer, but didn't phind any around, so I just went the sanding right. I did but multiple coats on, hoping the phirst would act as a primer.
I hae yet to phind a powder coater around these parts, I wasn't willing to wait a phew weeks to ship them off. I also thought I saw some examples somewhere where the powder coat, maybe even high temp coat didn't last well. Now if I could phind a ceramic coater around, I'd happily go that route.
Thanks again pholks. Real happy with the way these turned out.

Like this powder coat.........Samsons
and this....
The reason why the first picture did not take is because the prep was poor. Looks like the chrome wasn't removed enough. Mine was not as bad but still came off on my pants on the side seem of my jeans where the air flaps my pants and hits the pipes. I don't know where you live but I had almost my whole bike powdercoated black and they wanted $180 to ceramic coat the slip-ons and heat shields. The ceramic coating is a lot more expensive then pwdr coat. so don't be alarmed if it's more.I talked them down to $125 since I've done a lot of business with them. Should have them on friday.

Man I can never see any pix phrom your domain, but phor some phunky reason they showed up in this reply.
I don't think those were the ones I saw before, since I usually can't see your pix, but did those go bad at the clamps?
Yes, the clamps were where I first started to see it screwin up, the place on the one pipe where the coat is coming off at the bend looks like it was sand blasted by road sand. I have had them sand blasted and then I did the BBQ paint thing pipe looks better than when it was new.
On another note, can you see pics on my site or is it just on the forums?
My sig is all linked up to my site.
And another thing.....
Headed your way tomorrow, goin to Santa Fe what time is beer:30 for you? I might be able adjust my ride to roll through about then, I usually hit hwy380 into Roswell but could come in through the loco hills, I know I would need a drink after that.
I will be up there for a few weeks, I know I can schedule a visit on the way back if your busy, I would have time for a ride then.
i just used krylon hi heat bbq paint today to paint mine. they look real good i hope it holds alright. i couldnt find anyone that does any coating other then ceramic for hi heat stuff and i didnt wanna do ceramic coating.
