I read some where a couple of years back that the idle rpm is set to maintain the voltage back to the battery due to all the electrics energized, If you're still planning on lowering idle I wouldn't let the voltage charge drop below 14.0v.

@ davdoodles and all,Guess I'm dating myself that I remember the slang for 1000 rpm being expressed as a grand.

So took another ride today,my idle is around 1000-1100,I think I was around 900-1000 before I installed the fp3.

I also notice @60 mph in 6th gear cruising along my rpm is steady 2000 rpm normal ? if I shift down to 5th and cruise along i'm @ 2000 rpm also seems to be the same in 4-3-2 cruise along and its 2000 rpm.

So I have a feeling this normal,but could swear I cruised along @ 1000 rpm before fp3.

Also today after stopping ,started it and felt it was going to stall gave it some throttle and she came back fluke ?seemed alright after and seems to take a little more gas,.

waiting on my ac and then will do an auto tune.Comments appreciated .

Sounds pretty normal. Idling, mine is set just under 1000rpms. I think if it was any lower it would idle like crap.
As for raising the rev limiter, mine is set to 7000rpms without issues. I also have the 96ci in my bike, don't know if yours the same, but these motors can take it. harley's love the high rpms. PLanning on doing cams, valve train, lifters/ push rods, larger throttle body and dyno tune within the next month. She gonna be a beast when she's done.

As for rpm/cruising, no idea, no tach. I just listen to the noise and judge from there. If you listen close enough, i can figure out when she starts running out of power and needing a shift change. tend to change gears before that happens to keep it in the powerband. in case anyone wondering, 3rd gear 120kms, 4th gear 160kms, 5th gear 220+ kms. never use 6th gear for any pulls, only for cruising at or above 120kms. canadian, don't do mph's lol.

Glad people find FP3 great, but their after purchase support SUCKS BIG TIME.They don't answer online live, they don't answer their phones, they ask for your email but never reply,VERY DISAPPOINTED ESPECIALLY PEOPLE HERE SEEM TO GET THRU EASILY,I thought it would be a piece of cake.As you can tell I'm pissed 2 days ****ing around with fp3.

So perhaps some help pls.
1. My wifi signal says very strong.....on my cell.bluetooth on seems to me it takes a long long time to communicate and find the fp3. ??

2. I was able to download v&h map for my bike day one after lots of tries, open house windows to get better signal, brought laptop beside me to make signal stronger.

3. Day 2 tried one adjustments to the map decel pop and flashed ,but found bike wanted to stall on take off never did that before.

4.Return decel pop to previous adjustment flashed again but could never get confirmation.

5. tried to reload my v&h bike map again in slot 2,long press it highlights and I press + sign right hand corner and takes me to select map,go through the motion downloading map that's as far as I get it's like stuck at downloading WTF man.Do I have to be on top of V&H BUILDING IS THERE A PROBLEM WITH THEIR SERVERS OR THEIR PRODUCT THAT THEY ARE SO BUSY??

anyway appreciate any insight as to what I am doing wrong I'm not geek ,but not computer for dummies either.Searched for info on how to add a map nothing out there either they don't go into that part.

Oh one more question on the exhaust tab there is a circle with and x in it,what does this mean??not activated ?

Sucks your having these issues dude, sorry to hear. What kind of a phone are you using to connect to the fp3? Old phones are slow, carriers make them that way as they want you to spend lots of money on a new phone.

Only place I seen circle with X is in the decel pop screen, means no decel.

Disconnect from wifi, use data. It'll be quicker. Once you get map loaded, auto tune, auto tune, auto tune. For at least one full tank. May require more. Make sure bike is warmed up before auto tuning, otherwise it won't read anything.

But do your idle first, as its idling, slowly rev bike through various rpm ranges, and hold it at each tps position till you see squares light up, might take a few for them to become green. once you do that for about 20min, apply values, go for a ride. spend at least 30min city riding, or community, where ever your at. apply changes. take to the highway. 20min normal highway riding, or however you ride. pull over (when safe), apply changes, take back on highway, do some pulls. right from first gear right to fith. do that a couple times. apply changes. then go for a good long run, at least 20-30min. check phone, any big differences, apply, if not, ride some more, take back to city, do some city riding again, apply changes, finish auto tune session. You can auto tune as long and as much as you want, but if your only getting a couple squares at a time, you've pretty much done all you can without a dyno.

Problem doesn't immediately help you, but thought i share.

@2011 hdfat Thanks for the advice, actually went back to my old s4 phone today and tried it,BAM BATMAN lol it worked , better than my s7 go figure, maybe the signal was stronger or V&H servers were less busy.

I feel this fp3 is just a USB stick are the maps not in this device,or are they downloaded from V&H ?not sure why I have have to stay connected after firmware check either.

SO I download a new map for my bike into slot 2 and good to go, when I figure out how to delete I'll delete old map from slot 1.Next auto tune as you suggest gonna make a copy of your reply and follow tomorrow.

I see your in F.M.,how is the driving season there long short ? Cheers

This year sucks in Alberta. A lot of thunderstorms and rain. I live in Fort McMurray, and this is the wettest season we've had in years. Gonna be a short summer, either that, start riding in the rain just to get some rides in. lol.To delete maps, when your at the slot screen with your maps listed, look at the top right hand corner, should see a trash can. click that, and you'll be able to delete your old map. Don't worry, it won't let you delete a map that is loaded to your bike.

You don't need to keep the fp3 plugged in at all times. once your done auto-tuning, and it won't auto-tune anymore, you can unplug it and put it in your saddlebags or something.

So came across interesting fact today while talking with my neighbor, who by the way dislikes bikes and the noise lucky me,anyway apparently all he has to do is download FP3 app and and he can screw with my bike.Just has to wait for me to start my bike and pair up,imagine.I talked with a rep @ vance and hines and its possible .WOW SERIOUSLY they did not think about this, maybe password protection comes to mind.

All I need now is the rest of the old farts around to find out.So much for keeping it plugged always.

Sure, because they're all so tech savy...

You do understand how flashing maps and actually making lasting changes with an FP3 work? There is no way they could change anything without you noticing and allowing the bike to be turned off to comit changes etc. Unless, of course, you leave your bike accessible and allow for situations where people can turn on and off the ignition without you noticing. But who would do that anyway, especially when they are afraid of someone messing with the bike.

Wait a minute. Doing some 120 km/h you're riding your bike in 3rd?? She must be SCREAMING and must be running at around at least 4800 rpms??? Who would do that and why? That can't be good. In addition your fuel consumption must be outrageously high!
I agree about the 6th gear but without hard pull, i.e. when cruising, I'm in 5th at some 80 km/h. Anything else just also hurts my ears. This means she usually runs no lower than some 2200 rpms starting with 2nd gear. Loaded, going up a mountain it'll be no lower than around 2500 rpm but also not much higher than 3000 rpms, certainly not for a longer period of time.
