Did the second wash in two months, this time waxed and detailed. But usually once a month. Felt good.

I have 4 bikes to keep up. When I have some time in the evening I go to the shop and clean some on one of em everyday until I'm done. The street glide takes almost a week. Too much chrome LOL

Usually every week or two. It's a very salty and humid climate down here and everything rust in three months if one doesn't maintain. Been using turtle wax soap that comes with wax mixed in and it helps leave a protective film over every part of the bike ( so I think ) as chrome is shiny as when I bought the bike from the dealer. Bathe the bike about every 6 to 8 month in WD forty, I mean completely cover it, usually on a Monday, and wash it on a Friday before riding it. Compared to the few newer 2013 bikes and 2014 bikes I've seen, mine shines more and no rust visible.

Note. Recently I had to buy anti-rust metalic paint to protect some muffler nuts that were starting to rust. Looks good as new or better now. Guess cheap metal was used to make those. Probably a lousy HD supplier or just cutting costs.

I suggest:

1) try washing the bike after riding and not before.
2) ride the bike around the block or a few blocks after washing it so water blows off and drys off.
3 if your going to cover it up, wait a day after washing so out dry's up completely

I've had my 09 Street Bob for 4+ years, soapy water has never touched it. I'll hit it with some ammonia-free windex every few weeks just because it gets super dusty in our high-rise garage. I suppose the fact I don't have access to a hose and area to wash it is a factor too, but I doubt I would even then.

I'm going to ride before I polish chrome. But.... 4 miles on unpaved road is a part of every ride I do, our road. The dust on the back of this RK gets very bad quick. Have to find a way to get that off. A quick spray doesn't really do it.

Areas low on the side that are very noticeable when standing 20 feet away are hard for me to reach and see when washing. Like some of the pipes, edge and around floorboard, bottom of the guard.

Only had my bike 2 months, water hasn't touched it yet. I did put a nice coat of wax on it when I first got it, other than that, I hit it with some meguires quick detailer every so often.

I've owned mine since march and I've washed it 1x. I've rinsed off the tins and quick detailed them several times since though. In fact I'm so lazy that's one of the reasons why I want the bike blacked out. Polish chrome? As if!?

I use soap and water after longer dirty rides. Otherwise I just wipe her down when she's got bugs and fingerprints on the chrome handle bars. So after riding in sand storms and hail storms like last weekend in Colorado for instance. ;-)

I wash when I feel it is dirty enough.
No set schedule, just depends on my mood.
