My experience with torque cones is they may help with the low end on drag pipes (not as much as HP+ baffles) but they hurt the top end performance too much. So they are worthless. HP+ baffles work better.
Have a 2into1? just gut your muffler then stick in one HP+ baffle.

Every comment is respected. I was not ignoring you or your suggestion. I agree with you that that the torque cones are a compromise and the best way to go is to put a 2-in-1 system back on it but purchasing a new quality exhaust system is just not an option right now. I have the Hooker head pipes and heat shields and I will keep looking for a long straight slip-on to go with them...when or if I find one that the seller has not over priced up like it is the Holy Grail of slip-ons, I will put the system back on muy pronto...in the mean time, I am sticking with these Samsons and squeezing the most performance I can out of them...just like riding motorcycles, the enjoyment I get is all about tweaking them...it is as much about the journey as it is the destination.

If you are so <insert whatever word seems appropriate> as to run drag pipes on a street bike then sticking some extra restriction in there to fix them is just about what you deserve.
I liked the sound and the look of the drag pipes on my Low Rider. I understood that they weren't a performance setup and there is a bit more to the effect of the torque cones than just more restriction.

I kept the look and sound of my Drag Pipes, and got a bit more oomph out of them but I understand they aren't a performance set up.

We've tested torque cones on multiple exhaust systems on Twin Cams and Sportsters. Never seen a difference on the dyno.

That does not mean they won't make a difference in daily riding or with a particular exhaust set-up.

We have tested Thunder Torque Inserts on over a dozen bikes with many different exhaust systems, they all showed an improvement in low and mid range torque.

Torque cones install up near the head, and the theory is they are compensating for the wrong size pipe.

Thunder Torque Inserts install near the tail end of the exhaust and they work by reducing reversion, which increases exhaust gas velocity, which reduces engine pumping loss. Net result is a substantiated gain in low and mid range power, even on high dollar performance exhaust systems.

You can see dyno charts on them HERE.

I hesitated posting about Thunder Torque Inserts in this thread, but we have people mistaking TTI's for torque cones on a regular basis.

No problem Skin, I was not directing my comment that toward you.

I know what you mean skinman, when I went with my DD's I could feel I lost some low end torque. After playing around with the maps to the PCV, I could feel I got the low end torque back. I didn't need a dyno to tell me what I could feel. If you say you can feel the difference that's good enough for me.

The truth is that I was more believing of the many reports that torque cones do nothing and so I didn't expect anything when I put these things on, and was fully prepared to take them back off if they didn't work. I do not know why some folks get a positive response from installing torque cones in their exhaust configurations and why so many folks don't, but I rode around in the afternoon traffic today and there is no more doubt that the bottom end is more responsive than before. It does not take a run on a dyno to tell me that there is a definite increase in the curve with these Samson pipes paired with the Samson torque cones along with the carburetor rebuild and rejetting I did.

There are some cheap cones out there but the Samson cones are not, and maybe that is the difference...sometimes you get what you pay for. Maybe the difference for me is that I am using Samson cones with Samson pipes...I really don't know, but I do know my ride...something changed for the better when I put the cones on. Maybe it wasn't the cones, but a combination of factors including the cones.
