I ordered a Sundowner seat for my 05 Wide Glide to replace my Mustang Vintage, hoping to make my girlfriend more comfortable on the back. I picked up the seat yesterday and I took it out of the box, set it on the bike and put it right back in the box. The quality is absolutely horrible, and the looks are even worse. It doesnt even fit right, I'd have to modify the front bracket if I was going to use it. Huge disappointment. Back to the drawing board. I figured I's give genuine HD parts a shot...that was a mistake. Never again. Back to the dealer I go for a refund.
I have a sundowner for the wifey too. I find it puts me up way too high so the wind is directly in my face and so far forward that I have to re-adjust my shifter each time I use it. Thank God the wife doesn't like to ride so 99% of the time I use my good'ole mustang vintage solo seat! I've never had to look past that mustang seat after I bought it's perfect!
Yeah It is a horrible design. I went on a recommendation of a parts guy at the HD dealer...shame on me. He told me I couldn't go wrong..lol What a lie that was. I only sat on it for a second and hated it right away. It sets you up and forward which is the exact opposite of what I want.....and did I say ugly???

LMAO! You and me both buddy, cept at least when I bought mine it was used and the guy let me have it for 50$. Fugly or not I keep it for the odd passenger!
I like my Sundowner. When I'm sitting on it you can't see it anyway so who gives a s---.
Some people are going to love that seat that's a given, but it also has to fit the rider. Like I said when I use it I have to adjust my gear shifter and windshield, not to mention my legs feel like I'm riding with mids and I'm only 5'10. Some guys will get on my mustang vintage solo and complain they are too far back. So I'm glad you like yours but dmpjr and I both think it is un comfortable and bat **** ugly to boot! LMAO!!! It's friday so ride hard, ride safe, for heaven's sake just RIDE!
Seats are like exhaust sound it is subjective. What one will like another won't. I have a sundowner in a box somewhere. The problem I have is it puts me on the fuel tank. The seat feels good other than that. I decided I would try a FL touring seat. That will be a project for later on.
I have the solo AND the 2-up version of the Sundowner. They aren't the most attractive seat in the world, but they are very comfortable. I'm reaching the point in life where comfort is king.
