Default 14' street bob primary case removal

swapping the forward controls out for some mids and i am having to remove the primary assembly to install the shorter shift linkage that goes through the case. i've read all the how to's and i even have a manual i just want to make sure im not about to mess anything up. I've got the clutch hub nut broke loose but im having a awful time getting the clutch compensator nut off and i just want to make sure i'm not doing anything wrong.
any tips on getting the 1-3/4 nut off? (the one on the left) i dont have to mess with the star nut in the middle correct?
thanks in advance guys!

Looking in my manual and it says "left handed threads" so judging by your picture you may be turning it the wrong way.

Just so we are on the same page,

There is nothing called the clutch compensator.

There is a clutch.

There is a compensator.

The clutch hub retaining nut is L/H threads.

The compensator bolt is standard R/H thread.

You remove the torx bolt, RH thread and its tight PS. You'll want to replace the bolt with a new one.

Glad my thread is still useful to folks. I actually did it all twice since a fellow forum member offered to swap inner/outer primary covers a little while after I finished the initial installation.

I just used a T70 bit on an 18" breaker bar. The compensator bolt came right off. And as Dan89FLSTC said, the clutch hub retaining nut has left-hand threads, while the compensator bolt has standard right-hand threads.

No need. Just lots of red loctite. Or even the green stuff. I've reused the same one one several occasions
