How many
It all started with a crash on my buddie's 600 Ninja whenI was 16. Moms wouldn't let me get a bike while under her roof...so...I move out. Picked up my first commuter/dailey rider when I was 18...a Honda Rebel 250...yeah, I laugh too. But I learned how to ride the streets of Long Beach every day! 6 mos later bought a brand new Nighthawk 750 and never looked back. I actualy loved that bike. No frills and lots of power. Yeah, it's a metric, but very fun. 4 years daily driving in LB.
Sold it and picked up a basket 1973 Ironhead for $1800 bucks. Didn't really know what I was getting. As it turned out, everything was screwed up or didn't match/fit. Everything! Went through it all from the ground up...ridgid Paughco frame, 18" apes, rebuilt motor w/HC pistons, S&S carb, shotguns, spoked wheels, Mustang seat, etc. Anyway, about 75% through the project, along came my first child, my son. Came to terms quick and had to sell the bike project to scrape up the $$ to get my new family into a home that we own. That Ironhead was my first HD, but I don't count it because I never got to ride it.
6 years later, my wife paid me the ultimate compliment, and encouraged, actualy talked me into buying my current SG while we were at our local stealership killing time one Sunday afternoon in June 05.
Funny thing is...when I bought this bike in June 05, I had'nt been on a street bike in almost 10yrs, had only my recent dirtbike experience, andI had never technicaly ridden a HD. When the deal was all finished and the inspections/paperwork done, I got on that very day and putted out the HD parking lot with my wife and kids in the truck behind me. Pure bliss. Cheri said I had a chit eatin' grin on that she could see for miles, all the way home.
Yep, this is my first HD and I absolutely love it.
Sorry to ramble.

Yup...1st HD at 41, had a Kawi, Suzi and Yammi............hey, at least I never rode a Honda.
It's been a financial thing, had to pay for the kids & the house as well as a garage to keep it in 1st.

1st Harley, waited 35yrs for her (the Harley). Owned sportbikes, metrics dirt and enduros, nothing touches the Harley. Funny, some of you mention the right ofpassage or coming of age or maturity and it is almost likethenyou have the right to own a Harley.
Iwent to the store the other day and well there were a bunchof sportbikes out front, so being the personI amI parked right nextto all of them. (too funny) They all looked over and you could see theywere thinking the the hell? Well I seen that there were some hot ladies over there and well I wanted to show thema real bike. I went into the store and came out and some of them were standing nearmy bike and looking at it. As Icame walking up this really hotlittle 20 something says nice bike. So I said thank you, and offered to take here on a ride. WellMr. 20 something did not care for this, andtold her no andasked her why she would want to anyways. So as I am putting on my helmet I told him, "anyone can run out and by a crotch, go really fastand crash hard, while others are able to buy a Harley, go slow or fast and enjoy the ride, all the whileI am smiling and looking at this little lady, then I looked at him and said"Oh yae, and myride has vibrations". I just started to laugh and drove off. It was really too funny. Sorry about the long story.

i traded my 05 honda 919 in for my 06 dyna custom
i had my fun on the honda for alittle over 5000m
then i was looking for something new , almost bought a honda vtx 1800
then the reviews started showing up on the 06 dyna
wow! i bought the dyna without hesitation
might of cost me more than others but im am very happy
18 months later and i still have it. u can tell the difference between harley and the japs
they might have great motors (japs), but they are not american steel

My first Harley also. Had two Yamahas (a Speciall II, and a Seca) and a Suzuki (Boulevard). Been riding since 1986. Love my 07 vivid black Street Bob. I don't think I'll get another bike (if I do it will be another Harley).
I rode an Intruder since mid 90's. I wanted to buy a Harley then but with raising kids it was out of my price range. The kids are on there own now so it was time for me to splurge. Bought my Wide Glide last April 06 and have been loving it ever since.
