Ok, How many on here is this their very first Harley? This is my first, I have always ridden sportbikes, but it seems that when you hit 30 you move into a right of passage or something and just feel the need to get a Harley.
I JUST GOT MY FIRST HARLEY IN JAN. O7 AND IM LOVING EVERY MIN. OF IT. THIS IS MY FIRST BIKE ALL TOGETHER. IVE ONLY RIDDEN DIRTBIKES AND QUADS BEFORE THIS. AND IM NOT EVEN CLOSE TO 30. IAM 21.
heh, you can say that again, i rode a CBR1000 for quite a while... and when i turned 33, family said "y'know, you're not a teenager anymore... it's time to step up." My wife already has an 883 Custom, so it wasn't a tough sell to step up. but, yeah, pops tells me it's "a sign of maturity" (while sitting on his road king).
Got my first bike in 2nd grade... that was about 35 years ago. I went from minis to 3-wheelers, from three wheelers to dirt bikes, from dirt bikes to street bikes, from street bikes off the deep end to intense 4x4 4-wheeler racing then back to cruisers.
This is my first Harley, which I bought new and have now had her for going on 4 years. Would not trade her nor willI ever trade her for anything. I have owned Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda and Polaris but have toconfess that nothing compares to my Hog.

Once you get a Harley is like reaching puberty...before that, you were just a boy
Thats awesome to hear guys. I am now 32, married since 23. Wife has always asked me when I was going to grow up and get rid of the sportbike. Well when I hit 30 I put the rocket up for sale and the next year bought the HD. I love it. You just get the feeling when your riding down the road that your on the meanest baddest machine on the road, and everyone else that dont have one knows it too. Ahhhhh what a feeling.
I'm 32, been a sportbike rider since I was 16. Crashed about 9 or 10 different times over the years. 1 wife a dog and 3 kids later I purchased my first Harley (May 2006, StreetBob). I was upset at first because I am a speed junkie. But I am very happy with the change of pace. It's a much more relaxed ride. Plus the family feels better that I am not riding a rocket any more. Gettin oldisn't that bad, plus my wife still won't get on a bike with me driving, so thats a plus.
my dad never did own a harley but always loved them. i grew up appreciating harleys, and indians, although most of my family owned nortons and triumphs, which i love too. i rode honda mini bikes off and on when i was a kid, and i bought my yzf 1000 when i was 19 and almost killed myself. i didn't have it long because i needed a reliable cage, but it was a fun couple years. i waited until i was 28 to finally buy another bike and it had to be a harley, although i did lookbriefly at bonnevilles.i owned my first harley dyna 3 years and sold it yesterday for another dyna... which i hope ill have at least 10. the rocket wasn't nearly as satisfying to ride overall. the position and speed and runble of the harley really defines a bike ride to me.
I bought my first in 1968 and have owned 19 harleys in 39 yearsI still have everyone of them. They will have to burry them with me.. My Grandfather and my father both rode H.D.'s.
I've owned some Metric Bikes Those I sold. Trotter
Same story here too. 37 yrs old, wife and 3 kids.. I have owned several Sport Bikes (Katana, then GSXR), grew up riding yz's, and ride an ATV. I figured it was time to grow up a little and get the Harley.
Still own my Suzuki Dirt Bike, and Yamaha Raptor 660. And ride the sh*t out of the Raptor every possible chance. But as for the Sport Bikes, I think I've out grown it. (kinda) Wouldn't mind having a Ducati 1098s, for those days I feel like speed..
