Swapping trees- Steering Head Bearing/Hardware Question
Sorry if this has been covered, but I can't seem to find it. Here's my dumb question-
I'm planning on swapping my FXDB triple trees for some FXD trees next week. I bought a set and have had them powdercoated.
I'm doing the work myself, with a little help. I ordered a service manual to help as well. I do understand that I will need to test the bearings after install and adjust in accordance to the testing procedure in the manual, etc... But for whatever reason I cannot figure out if I will be able to use my bearings and other hardware that are currently sit on the stem in the neck of the bike when I swap to the new tree.
The triple tree came with the stem already machine pressed into the bottom clamp. Is the bottom bearing also machine pressed onto the stem- or can that and other washers, etc be taken off of the existing setup, cleaned, lubed, interchanged and swapped to the new triple tree hardware?
Thanks in advance
