Default tree teardown caveats (for powdercoating)

I just came back from the local powder shop and am ready to tear down my front end.

i have some questions about the bearing and all the funs tuff im going to find in the neck of my frame. i will be following the service manual but, there's always that gap between what's in there and what happens in the garage.

how far to strip the trees down.... and any warnings

what kinda grease goes back on the trees, etc.... do i go buy new innards?

I bought the Motion-Pro neck bearing race remover & installer tools... worked like a charm... less expensive than most others.

However at 9000... I'm not sure I would replace the neck bearings... unless it was bad... just leave the races in the neck, clean them, clean the bearings and repack. The bearings just slide off the tree itself.

Be sure to chase all the threaded holes with threaded taps when you get it back.. before you install it in the bike.. it's easier that way.

I just used a good heat resistant lithium base for repacking the bearings.
