I just recently had My Dyna put on a Dyno tester, because it seemed to be very slow to accelerate after about 3000 rpms, and while I had lots of throttle
left I would get no response. In other words, it was falling on it's face at higher rpms. The dyno tester said the fuel air mixture was ok, but other than that he was stumped. In his words, "it's almost as if something was dragging the engine down" he checked spark and brakes but could not come up with any clue to this symptom. I have stage one and straight pipes installed with no baffles. I just bought this used so don't know how it ran before. Any Ideas from you more experienced bikers?? I would just like to have some direction before I take it to a certified Harley shop.
Thanks
I have a 99 fxd tc88 with A.N. bigsucker and jet kitand can tell from experimenting that straight -pipesreallyreduced the mid-range.After I putlouverd bafflemufflers back on it reallycomes to life between 3k-4500 rpm.
You should try to get about any brand of baffled slip ons and you should notice the same difference. You can spend anywhere from $100 to $500 for them but they will probably fix your problem. Seems like alot of people buy the Krome works for about $ 180 or so. Look in the J&P cycle wishbook.
Simple things first would be try putting some fresh gas in it. Clean the air filter, Change the plugs.
It may also have something to do with the carb even though your ratios were ok. Hope this helps you out some. Keep me posted on how it turns out.
