Shift between 3000-3200. Cruise between 2500-2800. Don't usually go to 6th until 65-70 mph.

That's what my bike tells me to do. I use my tach a lot. It becomes a habit.

After you shift look at the tachometer. Never let the rpm's drop below 2000 under a load keep it above that and your good to go.

Its impossible to list a shift point, only the engine can tell you when to shift. When I'm lazily cruising on residential streets I short shift at low rpms ( who needs to keep it in first gear in a 25mph neighborhood) When merging with interstate traffic I wind it out quite a bit more. My Road Glide is happy at 55 in 6th gear as long as my speed is stable. If I'm riding aggressively weaving traffic I must use a lower gear. Trying to get people to list is shift point is a suckers question. If you need to ask, then you need to practice your riding skills.

Not that low rpms are good for motor, but I would think the less rpm, the less fuel being used. Why do you think cars have over drive?

Pretty much on the limiter. Always. Why tachs even have 1-5k is beyond me.

although this is the first HD i have owned, any other bike, or auto for that matters I always seem to get better gas mileage then others can achieve which am sure is due to I always run in the highest gear the machine can run without lugging or jerking.
