There's an interesting thread on the Softail Forum with the title of "Anyone regret their purchase?"
Most common one is that they either waited too long to buy a Harley or wished they had bought a Dyna instead of a Softail. Good reading for Dyna folks, Not so much for Softail guys.

Interesting.
I waited way too long. 45 yrs old, just bought mine after years of saying I will never get one. Now I'm hooked!
I almost bought a softail also. My salesguy said , for that class of bike, the softail is the one everyone wants based on looks when they are visiting the dealership.
This is my first Dyna! Had a pile of Softies and loved them all! The Dyna is a very seductive motorcycle! BTW, all my Softies were non-balanced solids, so at speed the Dyna seems smooth!
Own a 17 Dyna LRS..... Neighbor bought a Softail LRS (before he got rid of it for a Roadglide).... Rode it a few times.
Have to ask, whatcha want? Honestly his LRS felt like hoping on a metric. Sure maybe its a better bike or whatever, but I have no problem ripping my Dyna LRS to the tire edge and pegs with 13.5 shocks through twisties and bothering crotch rocketeers (I have a Busa streetfighter for really making time anyways). I bought my Dyna LRS for HD characteristics (loud, shaky, obnoxious, attitude )and its just been a great bike. His LRS just had nothing for me. I might as well of been on a triumph or metric. Nothing there....
As mentioned Mchad has had both..... He is on a Dyna LRS.... Like I said, whatcha want? Me personally Id get the Dyna even if the prices were switched.
