Since the Dyna range has now been transmogrified into Softails (a sensible move IMHO, but subject for discussion elsewhere), how is this forum going to handle that?
Should all discussion about new Softail versions of previously Dyna models now be in the Softail section? In which case the same model name of bike will be split between 2 sections.
Just make a new forum for Softails 2018+ and leave the others as is.
Not that difficult
Other than Softail winning the name, the new chassis are more like dynatails and no longer fit with either predecessor.
Well I've no idea what a Dynatail is, but the new bikes are certainly Softail even if the implementation is different. Looks like a Hardtail, but has hidden suspension. Yup, that's a Softail.
Anyway, I wasn't suggesting it was difficult, but to do as I mentioned and you suggested does mean a single model name will be split across different sections which although not 'difficult', is not ideal either. So I was just wondering whether the forum admins had thought about how best to accommodate these changes.
This place already has too many sections and subsections IMO. Obviously old dyna stuff goes to the dyna section. Might as well just integrate the rest here. Nothing more obnoxious than trying to decide if my rushmore m8 roadglide question should go to the touring, rushmore, or the M8 subsection.

Well I guess you need to decide exactly what your question is about. Not hard really. If it's about the M8 engine specifically, it's obvious where it should go. If it's more general about the bike, then probably the Touring section. But having said that...
I have always thought that forums are too limiting in this respect. It should be possible for a topic to exist and be accessible in multiple sections as many questions are not necessarily limited to a single subject. However it requires a different basic design of how the forum operates and I'm not aware of any forum software that can handle that.
I'm not necessarily advocating a new section, but it may prove to be the best solution. I would be interested to know what the forum admins think.
