dying at idle

dying at idle
I asked this in sportster thread and didnt get a reply any ideas?
2009 sporty dies at idle then when i turn the key off and try to restart the display goes blank. In the accessories/ first position the speedo lights up but in the second position the speedo goes dark. Not sure the problem, used volt meter to check the charger pigtail got 12.4v any help would be great.

The first thing I do when there's an idle problem is to clean the IAC with some throttle body cleaner.
I don't know if it's related to your other problem or not. The battery may check out OK sitting but it needs to be load tested. And check all the battery connections including the grounds.
