hey I have a 2012 fxdb all stock but the guy i got it from changed the rear fender with a 08 fxdb fender and i took my first night ride with some friends and was informed that my brake light was working but had no running light. i have my service manual but its for 2012 not sure where to start. Any suggestions??? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
This may sound silly but did you check the bulb? I have learned the hard way to check the simplest things first. I spent an entire weekend "tracking down" an electrical issue on my '70 C20 from the fuse box to the lights. Turned out to be corrosion where the bulb plugged in.
Just so everyone knows im fairly new to harleys so forgive my newbieness.
HYPR- to be honest not sure why he changed the fender he must not have liked the way it looked he was a bagger guy so im guessing he didnt like the bobber look of the fender.
linewatch- no silly questions but yes i checked the bulb and it seems to be fine. no corrosion of burn marks. ive checked the wiring and i cant seem to find an issue.
boro- so i just have the tail light. when he swapped the fenders they did a straight swap so i just have the tail light no turn signals but what i cant find out if they swapped the wiring over or they just did the fenders and and had similar wiring and were able to plug the stock wiring in.
The 2012 should have a run/brake/turn module already. So unless the previous owner pulled that off too the wiring should have nothing to do with it. I would make sure you have the correct bulbs. They should be dual filament. Do you have a center light and turn bullets, or just the bullets? Check the bulbs for dual filaments and check under your seat for a small black box right before the wiring harness goes to the rear fender.
chris h- i just have the center light no bullets. im looking at getting a set of bullets so i can have some turn signals. ill get check the bulb again and get a new one to make sure. checked the wiring and everything seems to be in order. box is there looks to be the stock so ill def check the bulb. thanks for your feedback.
